Lozios & Anakatosia
Biography     

The traditional brass band “Lozios ke anakatosia” got together beginning of 1996 by a group of young students of the Philharmonic of Kozani Municipality. The first three years they mainly played at festivities organized at Kozani during carnival season.

Since 1999 they started working with several folklore and cultural associations, Through their participation in theatre plays, traditional dance and music festivals inside Greece but also abroad, they enriched their repertoire and established their presence in the Greek traditional music scene.

Their big break came in 2001, with their participation in the live performance for children at Herodion Theatre in Athens, organized by Domna Samiou.

In March 2003, they took part again in Domna Samiou's performance “Ta Apokriatika” at Megaron Mousikis in Thessaloniki. Since then, the band became more profession-oriented.

In 2003 they released their first record, a live recording of traditional songs of Macedonia. Their second record followed in 2008.

In 2006 the members of the band met with Yiannis Aggelakas, an aquentance that  proved to be the beginning of experimentation with different sounds, rythmes and melodies, while, on the background, they participated in “Anakatosaria 2006”, the carnival festivities at Grevena.

The band's further collaboration with Yiannis Aggelakas for the making of the soundrack for Pandelis Vulgaris' film “Soul Deep” will be a milestone to their up to now career.

Finally, 2010 and 2011 see them in a very fruitful collaboration with two of the best cornet players in the traditional balcan music scene, Cambo Agusevi and his father Jimmy Agusevi.
